DHUBRI: Like previous years, this year too, Aranya Suraksha Samiti, Assam is organizing Gach Bihu as an environmental conservation festival in various districts of the state.
Locations of Gach Bihu celebrations will be at Hakama Beel in Bilasipara, Dhanasree Ghat in Udalguri district, Borhat in Charaideo district, Dakhin Pat in Majuli, Pachnoi in Sonitpur, Chiphajhar in Darrang district, Mahamaya in Kokrajhar district while centrally it would be celebrated at Deepteshwari in Rangia of Kamrup district on April 27. During celebration of Gach Bihu gifts will be offered to trees. Bihu dance and song will be performed under the trees, discussions on Bihu culture and environmental conservation would be held, senior citizens will be honoured, massive seedlings will be planted with the participation by the local communities.
