Arms and ammunition supplier of NSCN-K apprehended in Naharkatia

NAHARKATIA: In a swift and well-planned joint operation executed by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles on the outskirts of Naharkatia, one of the main arms and ammunition suppliers of NSCN-K in the Assam-Nagaland border areas, Sajid Ali, resident of Namti Charali, was apprehended along with weapon and live ammunition from the Abhaipuria Gaon, Joypur.

The operation was based on confirmed input that the individual was moving towards Naharkatia to deliver arms and ammunition to someone. Not only is he the pivotal person involved in the smuggling of arms and ammunition, he is also involved in providing assistance to the cadres for various illegal activities of the NSCN-K in the border areas of Assam and Nagaland.

The apprehended insurgent and recoveries were handed over to Naharkatia Police for further investigation. Naharkatia Police have registered a case vide Naharkatia Police case number 213/20 u/s 25(1)A of Arms Act,1959 and send him to jail on Thursday.
