Army Nabs NDFB (S) Cadre in Chirang district

Kokrajhar: A member of the NDFB (S) was nabbed by a joint team of security forces in Chirang district on Saturday night. Sources from the Army said that on Saturday night troops of Army unit of Chirang, along with Assam Police and CRPF, launched a joint operation on specific intelligence. A suspicious person likely to be in possession of illegal arms and earlier evading arrest was apprehended during the search operation. The person was identified as locally trained cadre of NDFB(S) named Raju Brahma of Dwimiguri village in Chirang.

On questioning further, search teams were sent to search his house and its premises. At late night, a package covered in plastic was found at his backyard. The same was opened in front of other villagers. The packet contained foreign made weapon and ammunition. The packet included one foreign made Single Bore Rifle, ten live rounds of AK-47 and hand grenade. Sources said that the weapon and ammunition were subsequently seized by Chirang Police and taken to Panbari Police Station along with the person. He is under police custody for further investigation and legal proceedings. Sources also said that recent successful operations in the area display high degree of cooperation among various security forces. It has resulted in drastic shock to the nefarious designs of NDFB(S) in the region.
