GUWAHATI: A national integration tour for 20 students of Baksa district was flagged off by the Army at Tamulpur with an aim of exposing the youth of Assam to the various facets of life and give them a glimpse of the various opportunities.

The students from 2 schools – Tamulpur High School and Dhamdhama High School – have been selected after due diligence in consultation with school authorities and teachers from schools adopted by Army. The group will visit prestigious training and educational institutes of the armed forces like the National Defence Academy, College of Military Engineering and Armed Forces Medical College and Sinhagad fort trek in Pune.

They will also get an opportunity to participate in adventure activities and have an interactive session with students of Prahar Military school and visit the ancient Dragon palace in Nagpur. Through this project, the Army hopes to bring about a positive change in the lives of these students and their families by giving them a significant opportunity to make an informed decision based on this experience and explore the myriad avenues hitherto unknown.

The idea behind the tour is to explore, educate and empower the youth to make informed decisions in life and consequently take a small but concrete step towards social empowerment.
