Armys initiative to reach out to interior villages is inspiring says octogenarian villager Hareswar Deka

MANGALDAI: A total of 2,074 villagers of a vast rural area of the western part of Darrang district on Monday turned up at the day-long mega medical and health camp organized by the unit of Red Horns Division deployed at Golandi in Udalguri district.

The troops of Red Horns Division, while assisting the civil administration in fighting against the insurgency, organized the medical and health camp at Duni MV School in Darrang district under the 'Op Sadbhavana'. A large number of army and civil doctors took part in the camp to treat, prescribe and distribute medicines free of cost at the venue.

"The initiative to reach out to interior villages by the Army and spread message of participation in all efforts of nation-building is inspiring and will generate lot of goodwill for 'our loving brothers in Olive Green," said octogenarian villager Hareswar Deka who availed treatment for his illness.

In the medical and health camp organized by the army for the first time in the area, a total of 696 males, 893 females and 485 children were offered treatment and medicines while 237 patients got treatment for the dental ailment.

Earlier, Darrang Deputy Commissioner Ghanashyam Dass, in presence of Commanding Officer of 14 Garhwal Rifles, Colonel Rahul, media person Lakshya Dhar Saikia and senior citizens of the locality inaugurated the camp and appreciated the spirit of the troops of Red Horns Division.
