DHUBRI: Artists from Bangladesh and North Bengal conducted an art workshop here at Dhubri Lions Club, organized by Mahabahu Brahmaputra Shilpakala Kendra of Dhubri on Sunday.
Altogether 53 students from Assam and North Bengal participated in the workshop conducted by Istiaque Talukdar and Md Hassan from Dhaka of Bangladesh while secretary of Uttar Bango Charukala Society, Rathindra Nath Saha, president of Coochbehar Art Society, Bimal Dey Sarkar and a prominent artist from Dinhata of Uttar Bango, Jiban Barman took part.
Prior to the workshop, all the artists were felicitated and welcomed by the organizer. Being the chief guest, chairman of Dhubri Municipal Board, Dr Debamoy Sanyal appreciated the move by the Mahabahu Shilpakala Kendra for organizing the programme for the new entrants in the field of art and wished them success in the years to come.
Talking to The Sentinel, an artist from Bangladesh appreciated the efforts of Mahabahu Shilpakala Kendra for organizing the workshop for the budding artists of Assam and North Bengal of India.
“ This will go a long way to build a conducive environment and bondge between the two countries and help exchange of art and culture. I am really overwhelmed to see the enthusiastic artists in making here under the guidance of Tarun Mitra of Dhubri Mahabahu Shilpakala Kendra,” Hassan added.
Office of Mahabahu Shilpakala Kendra, an institute of fine arts and painting, was also inaugurated Sunday at RK Mission Road Dhubri, Tarun Mitra of the institute informed.
