KOKRAJHAR: The All Rabha Women's Council (ARWC) Kokrajhar district committee on Thursday decided to extend support to the Promod Boro-led United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) in the forthcoming 4th BTC election to be held on December 7 and December 10.

In a statement, the president of the Kokrajhar district committee, ARWC, Rongjuli Kama and general secretary DulumoniDangoi said that the indigenous Rabha people extended support to the HagramaMohilary-led BPF in every election but the BPF did nothing for the community. They said that in the last 17 years of the BPF's rule, they did not see development of their community. They also said that the Rabha people did not get employment opportunity and political rights in the last 17 years.

The leaders of ARWC said that they had lost faith in the BPF and so, they wanted political change in the BTC. They said the UPPL had been giving attention towards the grievances of different communities. They also said that they had high hopes in the UPPL led by PromodBoro and therefore, the Rabha people would extend support to candidates of UPPL in the coming council election.
