ASDC in Diphu demands reservation for ST (H) in Grade III, IV posts

Diphu: The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) held a press meet on Wednesday where Dainiel Teron, ASDC publicity secretary, lamented that in the advertisement for filling up six posts of peon in the proposed medical college being set up in Diphu, no post has been reserved for the Scheduled Tribe (Hills) people.

Similarly, out of the nine posts of the attendant, there is no post reserved for the ST (H) people. Out of the 24 posts of Laboratory Attendant, only one post is reserved for ST (H) candidate. There is no reservation for other posts like accountant, account assistant, cashier and stenographer. Out of the 93 vacant posts in the technical sector, there are only three posts reserved for ST (H) candidates.

The true picture of the BJP has been revealed through this advertisement, said Teron. “We are not demanding job reservation in medical institutes in the Brahmaputra or Barak Valley but in Diphu. We do not demand job reservation in senior posts like Principal, Professor and Registrar but only in Grade III and Grade IV posts. We demand that the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and the elected representative from Karbi Anglong take up the issue with the State Government before it is too late. It is because of lack of employment opportunity in Karbi Anglong that many youths go to South India in search of jobs,” said the ASDC leaders.
