ASHA convention under National Health Mission concludes in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) convention was organized under the banner of National Health Mission (NHM) by the District Health Society, Kokrajhar at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) recently. BTC Assembly Speaker Katiram Boro attended the programme as chief guest and inaugurated the programme by lighting the inaugural lamp. The 12 best ASHA health workers from different Block Primary Health Centres (BPHC) and Urban Health Centre (UHC) in the district were felicitated and handed over certificates.

Addressing the gathering, BTC Assembly Speaker Katiram Boro appreciated all the ASHA workers for their dedication and good work. Stating that the performance of the medical department is based upon the performance of ASHA workers, he said that ASHA are frontline workers at the grassroots level. He also called upon the ASHA to help in the state government fight against child marriage by creating awareness in grassroot level in their respective areas.

In the programme, some of the ASHA workers shared their problems and challenges faced by them. The programme was also attended by Principal of Kokrajhar Medical College Dr Atul Chandra Boro, Joint Director Health Services J Ahmed among others.
