LAKHIMPUR: Declaring stir against the alleged unmoved attitude on the part of the State Government towards fulfilling their long-pending demands, the ASHA workers boycotted their regular services from Wednesday. They will continue the stir until January 20.

On Thursday, in connection with their stir, the ASHA workers of Lakhimpur, under the banner of Lakhimpur Zila ASHA Karmi Santha, staged sit-in in front of the office of the Joint Director, Lakhimpur District Health Services, in support of their six pending demands. By staging the protest programme, the organization demanded the State Government to submit the proposal to Union Government for their permanent appointment, to initiate move to grant adequate amount of salary for their services, to release their arrears as declared by the State Government vide letter No. NRHM/ASHA/205-06/108ptiv/1442, which was pending from 2013 to 2017, to release the full amount of Rs. 10,000 granted by the Sanitation Committee to each respective area of the ASHA workers, to allot health cards to ASHA workers under Atal Amrit Yojana and Ayushman Bharat Yojana and to scrap the order to retire ASHA workers above 60 years.
