SILCHAR: To honour the retired workers and officials after their retirement, the State government had taken the step to simplify the disbursement of their pension with the help of digital technology, said Minister Ashok Singhal, who is also the Guardian Minister for Cachar. Inaugurating the Pension Seva Kendra in Silchar on Friday, the minister said, the entire scheme is a dream project of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to express gratitude towards the government employees who had sacrificed a golden phase of their lives in the service of the people.

Singhal, who is on a two-day visit to Cachar, arrived Silchar on Friday morning. He ceremonially inaugurated the Seva Kendra at the Deputy Inspector of School's premises in presence of local MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, Deputy Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha and other dignitaries.

While speaking on the occasion Minister pointed out that in the earlier pension system, the retired workers and officials had to face many difficulties and took a lot of time to get their pension. So this system has been facilitated by integrating it online and this process of getting pension has started from the day of superannuation to give the pensioners their due respect after spending precious time of life.

Minister Singhal further stated that this new system provides employees and officers to apply for pension one year before retirement.

"The works in service centre are being carried out by the Assam Electronics Development Corporation Ltd, Amtron and the responsibility for its proper management has been given to the Office of Inspector of Schools in Cachar," Singhal said.

DC Jha said that the pension system has been simplified in the e-Pension Seva Kendra through the digital platform 'Kritagyata' portal through this Pension Seva Kendras. In this, all the departmental staff and officers including the education department can apply for pension one year before retirement and the service book will be scanned and sent online. The system has the facility of submitting application forms through online and it has the provision of PPO or pension payment order numbers. Entire process would be supervised by the Chief Minister's office of the State.
