Asom Gana Parishad MLA calls Panchayat Poll a ‘failure’

LAKHIMPUR: AGP MLA of No 111 Lakhimpur Legislative Assembly Constituency, Utpall Dutta termed the panchayat poll held on Wednesday as ‘total failure’.

Addressing media persons at a press meet held at Gana Bhavan on Wednesday evening, he alleged that the panchayat poll was not held as per a correct electoral roll and hence this election was a comprehensive failure on the part of the government. He further complained that adequate police personnel were not deployed at the polling booths and the AGP polling agents were prevented from entering various polling booths of the district. He demanded the State Election Commission and the State Government as well as Lakhimpur district administration to hold re-poll in the polling booths where anomalies took place.
