NAGAON: The district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) staged a protest against the ongoing rise of the prices of petroleum products as well as other essential commodities across the State in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner, Nagaon.

Over hundred protesters from the student organization participated in the demonstration and reverberated the air of the small town with various slogans and strongly criticized the saffron-led Union Government at the Centre and BJP-led alliance government in the State for their failure in controlling the prices of petro products as well as other essential commodities.

The leadership of the district body of the organization also criticized the role of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma saying that the BJP came to power with the electoral promise to save Jati, Mati aru Bheti of the indigenous Assamese people. But after being voted to power, the same party has been ignoring the burning issues faced by the people of the State.

The organization also warned that it would intensify massive protests in the days to come if the government failed to control the prices of petro products as well as other essential commodities in the State. Following the demonstration, the agitators submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through the Deputy Commissioner, Nagaon.
