LAKHIMPUR: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has strongly opposed the Union Government's decision to hand over several oil fields of the State to private institutions. In this regard, the Lakhimpur district unit of the organization submitted a memorandum to the President of India recently through the Deputy Commissioner of the district and demanded him to scrap the decision. Through the same memorandum, the organization demanded the president to scrap the decision of privatizing the Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited and open mining of coal at Dehing-Patkai Reserve Forest. The memorandum stated that the AJYCP vehemently opposed these three decisions taken by the Union Government against the interest of Assam while ignoring the multiple problems of the State like flood and erosion, growing unemployment, illegal migrants and the long-pending issue of introducing Inner Line Permit in the State.
