Guwahati: As the students and their parents await with bated breath for the results of the Class 10 exams to be declared a few days from now on June 6, it has come to light that the results of the higher secondary examination are likely to be declared between June 20-25. According to media reports, the screening of papers has been completed and the Assam 12th exam results could be declared within the month of June itself.

Meanwhile, the state's Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Secretary of Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) had a discussion pertaining to the matter and the date of announcement of the 12th exam results is expected to be announced in the ensuing days. Assam HSLC 2020 examination started on February 10 and ended on February 29, 2020.

This year, around 2.34 lakh candidates have appeared for the examinations conducted by the board. The examination was conducted in 772 exam centers across the country. According to reports, the evaluation of answer scripts was started from February in 48 evaluation zones and the deadline was April 12. Many evaluators were unable to meet the deadline due to the lockdown that imposed several curbs in the conduct of day-to-day lives. Educational institutions have been closed down ever since the Prime Minister announced the imposition of the curbs to mitigate the spread of the virus. Uncertainty prevailed for a long time regarding the future of students.

Last Sunday, the announcement of the declaration of 10th results was made by state Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday. Sarma also said that the Government is eyeing a resumption of classes from mid-June onwards for the students who were forced indoors due to the coronavirus-triggered lockdown. Around 3.50 lakh students appeared in the examinations this year.

In a first, the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) has announced that it will declare the 10th results this year only through a mobile application and websites. This decision has been taken by keeping in mind the threat posed by the Covis-19 virus that spreads in community gatherings. This year, the SEBA board shall release the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSCL) and Assam High Madrassa (AHM) exams through its online app called SEBA Results 2020 which will be available on the Google Playstore as a free download. Additionally, the results will also be available on 14 websites.
