Assam: 2 Dead, Several Injured in Brick kiln Accident
The brick kiln is said to belong to the SABI brand.
SILCHAR: In a heartbreaking incident, one child and one guest died in an accident that took place in the Lakhipur region of the Cachar district of Assam.
According to reports, the chimney of a brick kiln collapsed while it was still active. Two people died and several more have been injured when the bystanders were trapped in the rumble in this accident. The brick kiln is said to belong to the SABI brand.
Local people mentioned that the chimney and the kiln itself are old. An event was going on next to the chimney as the fire was about to be lit to bake the bricks. Apart from the workers, family members of the owner, whose details were not revealed by the police, were also present at the location. The chimney cracked soon after the heat started to rise.
The lack of integrity of the chimney because of its age is suspected to be a key reason for the accident. While the police are carrying on the investigation regarding the matter.
The injured were immediately sent to the nearest FRU and thereafter referred to the Silchar Medical College Hospital for proper treatment. Fire tenders were also called to the location of the accident to douse the fire.
