GUWAHATI: On Friday night, a road accident in Assam's Karbi Anglong district resulted in two fatalities and two injuries.

The incident occurred on Bokajan's National Highway No. 31 when the car the victims were riding in, slammed into a roadside tree at a high rate of speed. The two people who passed away have been identified as Suruj Ali and Itka Yeptu.

It has been discovered that the car was travelling towards Dimapur. Later, when local police arrived on the scene, they removed the bodies for postmortem. The two injured people were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident, up to six individuals perished in a horrific traffic accident last month in the Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya after their car was struck by a truck. The incident happened in Sumer, Meghalaya, when a cement-carrying truck collided with a Bolero, carrying the victims.

At Sumer in Meghalaya, the cement-laden truck's driver lost control of the wheel as it was travelling towards Guwahati. The truck struck the divider and veered into the opposing lane, striking a Bolero that was approaching from the opposite direction.

According to reports, the accident in Meghalaya claimed the lives of all six people inside the car, including the driver and three nuns from a missionary school headquartered in Bongaigaon, Assam. The Bongaigaon bishop, Thomas Pulloppillil, wrote, "With great sadness, I wish to inform you that Fr. Mathew Das, parish priest of Barama Parish, along with three sisters of the Fatima convent in Barama and Baganpara and a teacher of Barama St. John's HS School, met with a fatal accident on the way to Shillong near Nongpoh in Meghalaya and died on the spot.”

Recently, tragedy struck a wedding party in Assam’s Dhubri, when the car they were travelling in got involved in an accident, killing one person instantly. According to the information that has been received, the accident happened at Nathpara in NH 17 in Chapar, Assam's Dhubri district.

Reports state that the car's driver lost control and slammed into a roadside tree. The catastrophe resulted in the immediate death of one woman and the serious injuries of two others, including the newlywed bride.
