Assam: 3 Held for Govt Job Scam in Tinsukia

Tinsukia: In an unfortunate incident, three individuals, including two employees from the deputy commissioner's office in Tinsukia, have been apprehended by the West Karbi Anglong police. They are facing charges of deceiving job seekers and extorting money from them by falsely promising government positions.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Deepak Thapa, and Pradeep Tantiya, both of whom were employed at the DC office, and Anil Moran, a resident of Makum. The investigation was initiated by the Hamren police after receiving complaints related to extortion in connection with job opportunities in the judiciary.

Based on initial evidence pointing towards the involvement of the three accused, a team from the Hamren police proceeded to Tinsukia and successfully apprehended them. During the investigation, it was uncovered that the accused had issued fraudulent appointment letters for judicial positions, thereby deceiving unsuspecting individuals.

Following their arrest, the trio was taken to the Karbi Anglong district for further questioning. Subsequently, they were produced before a local court, which remanded them to three days of police custody. In the course of the ongoing investigation, the police seized computer equipment from the accused, which may serve as crucial evidence.

Authorities are currently conducting additional inquiries to determine if the accused have defrauded other individuals through similar means, offering fake appointments or making false job promises in exchange for money.

In a separate incident in the same district, a prominent BJP leader has also been taken into custody. Moon Ingtipi, a leader of the Kishan Morcha wing of the BJP, was arrested on allegations of collecting approximately Rs 9.52 crore from multiple individuals, promising them government jobs. The BJP has promptly expelled her from her position within the party following the arrest. The matter recently came to light when it was revealed that Ingtipi had demanded substantial sums of money from people by falsely claiming to offer them employment in various government departments in Assam.

The West Karbi Anglong police are diligently investigating both cases, aiming to ascertain the full extent of the fraud committed by the accused individuals. They are focused on bringing justice to the victims and ensuring such deceptive practices are effectively curbed.
