DOOMDOOMA: Along with 50 constituencies of Assam, the process of distribution of ration cards among 83,952 beneficiaries of Tinsukia district began on Sunday.
On this occasion, Chairman Assam Government’s Housing Corporation Pulak Gohain attended a function organized for Makum legislative Assembly Constituency at Borguri ITI playground.
“As Assam ration cards will now be applicable all over the country, so it has become a very easy and corruption free process for eligible families to get ration cards,” said Gohain. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma for the provision that ration card holders would be able to collect ration anywhere in the country.
The meeting was also attended by Moran Autonomous Council Chief Executive Arunjyoti Moran, Matak Autonomous Council Chief Executive Saroj Gohain and Makum Municipal Board Chairperson Bipasha Bora. Additional Commissioner Leena Pawe welcomed all those present in the meeting and said that 8,031 new ration cards would be issued to 13,748 beneficiaries in Makum constituency.
The event was scheduled to be attended by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal but he could not attend due to the busy schedule of the current session of Parliament. Meanwhile, state Labour and Tea Workers Welfare Minister and local MLA, Doomdooma constituency, Rupesh Gowala was the chief guest at a function held at Saurav Kala Parishad in Rupaisiding for Doomdooma constituency. He officially launched the distribution of ration cards among 5,660 new beneficiary families in the constituency. This will benefit 14,883 people. The programme was opened by Doomdooma Co-District Commissioner Nujahat Nasrin.
On the other hand at Manab Kalyan Bhawan, Tinsukia, former Minister and Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Sanjay Kishan was the chief guest of the function. The number of new beneficiary households in the district headquarters constituency is 6,317 and the population is 15,742. Additional District Commissioner Mirzana Hussain delivered the welcome speech.
The distribution of 7898 new ration cards for Sadiya Assembly constituency was officially launched at a function held at Chapakhaowa public ground on Sunday. The cards covered 15,534 people in the constituency, Sadiya Co-District Commissioner Manasjyoti Nath said. Another event was held at Rangmanch Block Tinali for Margherita Assembly constituency where Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma attended as Chief Guest. The 7,210 ration cards to be distributed will cover 13,151 beneficiaries. 5,406 new ration cards will be distributed in this constituency, benefiting 11,094 people. Additional Commissioner Javed Arman was also present on the occasion.
District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO) Bikash Sharma said that 8,53,401 people from 2,78,797 households in the district received ration cards so far and 83,952 beneficiaries were added through 39,470 new cards. Each event was broadcast live along with the central programme held in Guwahati before the start of the meeting.
