DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh Police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered 34.59 grams of suspected heroin from their possession during two separate operations in Dibrugarh on Tuesday night.
The drug peddlers have been identified as Purnima Biswas (53 years), Abhijit Biswas (25 years), Sujata Rai alias Saheli (30 years), and Inja Hussain alias Niku (28 years). They were arrested under NDPS Act. After getting a tip off, Dibrugarh Police launched a massive crackdown in the Kalibari and Railway Colony areas and successfully nabbed the drug peddlers.
“We have recovered six mobile handsets, 71 small bottles of suspected heroin from the house of Purnima Biswas. All of them were arrested under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985,” said a police official.
He said, “We have launched a massive crackdown against drug trade and so far many drug peddlers have been arrested with contraband items.”
