Assam: 6 Women Injured In Lightning Strikes In Biswanath District

Biswanath: At least six women were injured after lightning struck them in Assam's Biswanath district on Wednesday.

Reportedly, these all women were tea garden laborers of Pabhoi tea garden and Majuli Garh tea garden and lightning struck them when they were plucking leaves in the garden.

The injured women were identified as Pinki Tasa, Lakhmi Oriya, Pomy Khadal, Momi Bhumij, Gopi Oriya, and Kumoli Khudal.

Presently, all the women are currently undergoing treatment at a civil hospital in Biswanath.

Notably, in April this year, as many as 18 people were killed due to lightning and storms that struck different parts of the state.

While in May, a 28-year-old youth died after being hit by lightning at Borbaruah in upper Assam Dibrugarh.

The deceased have been identified as Madhurjya Konwar, a resident of Jamira Gohain Gaon of the Borbaruah area of Dibrugarh.

According to reports, Madhurjya Konwar was riding a motorcycle and on the way towards Bogibeel bridge lighting struck him.

The incident occurred at around 8 pm near the Bogibeel area.
