DIBRUGARH: In an unfortunate incident, a 7-year-old boy tragically lost his life after falling into an uncovered fire safety tank at the Amba Heights residential complex in Dibrugarh on Sunday afternoon. The deceased, identified as Tejas Beriwal Agarwal, hailed from Mariani in Jorhat. He was visiting Dibrugarh with his family to meet his grandfather and for his father’s medical treatment.

Tejas was playing with a ball inside the complex when it rolled near the uncovered tank, as per eyewitnesses. He accidentally fell inside while attempting to retrieve the ball. The boy had reportedly been missing since around 3 PM, and it was only after a sandal was seen floating in the open tank that residents began searching the area. He was pulled out and immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, but doctors declared him dead.

The tragic incident has triggered widespread outrage among the apartment complex residents, who blame the management for negligence. Residents allege that basic safety measures were not in place, no CCTV cameras, no security guards, and a complete lack of maintenance.

“This was entirely avoidable. A few years ago, a senior citizen fell from the top floor and died. Nothing has changed since then,” said Sujit Deb, a resident. Locals are now demanding strict legal action against the building owners and management for endangering lives through negligence.
