BOKAKHAT: The ‘Koka-Aaita Edin’ (A Day for Grandparents) programme was organized for the seventh time in a scenic natural setting on the banks of the Gelabil River by the Namtemera Yuva Mancha, under Bokakhat Samazila Dusutimukh Gaon Panchayat, with support from the local residents of Namtemera. The event was presided over by retired teacher and poet Gopal Moran.

The Yuva Mancha honoured over a hundred elderly men and women above the age of 60. Among them was Rongdai Moran, the oldest grandmother in the village and a notable figure in the entire D-poriya region, who was a companion in establishing the Ekasarana Nam Dharma propagated by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev. Along with Hemanta Pathori Koka, she delivered a heartfelt speech that moved everyone emotionally.

The Yuva Mancha collectively offered services to the elders and later presented them with gifts including t-shirts, blouses, and gamochas as tokens of respect.

Key speakers at the event included Headmaster and former secretary of the Bokakhat district branch of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha Jatin Loing, publicity branch Secretary Amal Doley, and playwright Palash Loing.

Elderly members Koka Kutora Bori, Mohan Moran, and Aaita Rohini Loing entertained the audience by singing traditional Bihu songs. The programme concluded with President Tikheswar Moran offering ceremonial gifts and delivering a closing speech.
