Assam: 8 fair price dealers apprehended in Morigaon
Police have arrested 8 fair price dealers of Moirabari block for their alleged involvement in misappropriation of PMGKAY rice for the months of July & August, 2022.

MORIGAON: Police have arrested 8 fair price dealers of Moirabari block for their alleged involvement in misappropriation of PMGKAY rice for the months of July & August, 2022. The apprehended 8 fair price dealers are Safikul Islam, Amir Uddin, Siddik Ali, Abdul Sattar, Majibur Rahman, Nazir Hussain, Mohammad Ali and Sofuluddin. Under a complaint lodged on October 2022, an investigation was conducted against 18 fair price dealers out of 45 dealers. During the inquiry, the apprehended 8 fair price dealers could not produce valid documents regarding sale and stock of essential commodities. In connection with misappropriation of PMGKAY rice , a press meet was organized at DC's conference hall on Monday. The Deputy Commissioner Devashish Sarma, Superintendent of Police Hemanta Kr. Das and ADC Arundhuti Nipun Narah addressed the media persons at length.
