Assam: 83kg Cannabis Seized From Guwahati Railway Station

GUWAHATI: At Guwahati Railway Station on Friday, the Government Railway Police (GRP) made a significant bust and captured more than 80 kg of cannabis.

This follows GRP's Wednesday night seizure of 93.7 kg of marijuana from the Guwahati Train Station. Authorities today reportedly seized about 85 kg of marijuana, according to information received.

According to officials, the shipment was intercepted while being smuggled in a similar way.  Officials were unable to make any detentions in the meantime to accompany the seizure.

The Rajdhani Express number 20503, which was travelling from Dimapur to Delhi, was where the significant seizure was made. GRP officers stated that the total estimated value of the cannabis seizure is close to Rs 42 lakhs.

According to a police official speaking to the media about the significant bust, "Based on particular inputs, today we again searched the Rajdhani Express numbered 20503, during which we discovered a substantial amount of cannabis."

“Today, 83 kg of marijuana were taken into custody. The full shipment was being smuggled in secret at various locations throughout the carriage. But once more, we failed to catch anyone connected to the incident. Our information indicates that the train was coming from Dimapur and was going to Delhi. The consignment's estimated market value is between 40 and 42 lakh rupees”,he continued.

On Thursday, news broke of the seizure of a sizable cannabis shipment, yet another significant find. The massive cannabis stash was taken from a train the previous evening at the Guwahati Railway Station by the Government Railway Police (GRP).

The police carried out a search operation based on intelligence and took possession of 93.7 kilogrammes of marijuana from a Rajdhani express train that was stationed there. Before stopping in Guwahati, the train, according to information, was travelling towards lower Assam. The seized cannabis shipment had an estimated market value of crores.
