Assam: 90:10 Fundings Demanded By Gaurav Gogoi For Railways Projects

GUWAHATI: Assam and other northeastern states are in need of Rail Over Bridge/Road Under Bridge (ROB/RUB) construction, and MP Gaurav Gogoi urged 90:10 financing in a speech to the Lok Sabha.

As MP Gaurav Gogoi continued to emphasise the necessity of a Rail Over Bridge/Road Under Bridge in his district's Chungajan and Tengani, he said, "If we go by tradition, the Central government contribution is at least 80-90 percent in all the northeastern railway projects."

On the other hand, the state government often has a 10–20% share. Additionally, MP Gaurav Gogoi further asserted that when the MP approached the railway department about the need for a level crossing, the railways allegedly responded that the state government should be responsible for covering the full cost.

Om Birla, the speaker, was encouraged by Gaurav Gogoi to ask the railway department to maintain the financial mechanism in place from earlier in time.
