JORHAT: The 94th annual session of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha was formally inaugurated today at the Eraltoli fields in Mohbanda, Jorhat. Thousands of devotees from various regions of Assam flocked to the Vaishnav Pandit Sonaram Chutia Coordination Center, which has been turned into a colorful spiritual hub.

Upon his arrival, Bhupendra Nath Deka, a prominent official of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, was warmly welcomed by the youth and women's groups present at the site. The air was filled with the enchanting sounds of "Harinam," creating a divine atmosphere reminiscent of a second Vaikuntha.

More than 10,000 volunteers will be engaged in catering to the visitors on a sprawling 12-bigha plot during the four-day event, which will conclude on Sunday. The congregation not only focuses on the teachings of the two Gurus but also celebrates literature and diverse cultural traditions.

Preparations for this huge number of devotees in terms of food have been underway since the midnight hours. The organizers arranged meals for a total of up to 100,000 devotees and prepared 200 cooking stations in Eraltoli fields. A temporary kitchen was put up in advance to facilitate this meal preparation with daily requirements involving 7,000 kilograms of rice, 1,000 kilograms of dal, and almost 3,500 kilograms of vegetables. More so, an enormous dining hall has been prepared, capable of accomodating 10,000 people at a go, thus setting a target of serving nearly 200,000 people daily.
