Hojai: A delegation from the All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) Hojai District Committee submitted a memorandum to Minister Pijush Hazarika, Government of Assam, and Guardian Minister of Hojai District on Saturday. The memorandum highlighted various unresolved issues in Hojai District, including the resettlement of families evicted from the Lumding Reserved Forest Area, action against the illegal garbage dumping ground at Jamunamukh, and a solution to fluoride and arsenic contamination in the Akashiganga and Laskar Pathar areas. Revival of Jamunamukh, Hojai, and Lumding irrigation divisions, Stopping the rice syndicate and ensuring fair prices for farmers, Establishment of a well-equipped rehabilitation centre in Hojai District.

The minister directed the Hojai District Commissioner, Bidyut Bikash Bhagwati, to discuss the demands with the AAMSU delegation and find solutions. The commissioner assured that steps would be taken to resolve all 6-point demands and provide necessary medical treatment, Arunodoi scheme benefits, and National Food Security cards to those affected by fluoride and arsenic contamination.

The AAMSU delegation included Chief Advisor Manowar Hussain, District President Kabir Ahmed Laskar, Vice President Salehin Uddin, and General Secretary Tayyab Ahmed.
