Assam: All India Radio of Tezpur records creativity of children

AIR Tezpur, organized a recording programme featuring children’s songs, poems, and literary works to revive interest in radio broadcasting.

JAMUGURIHAT: Once, radio was the only medium of broadcasting and of entertainment of people in India. But due to advancement of science and technology, the value and importance of the radio has been neglected. Now, radio has become a hardly used word. The younger generation has hardly seen the radio. The All India Radio stations located and scattered in various places of the country are on the verge of extinction.

But the AIR has undertaken and adopted innovative measures to revive and reinforce itself once again. As a part of this, a programme was organized by the All India Radio, Tezpur in association with Sonit Konwar Gajen Baruah Sangeet Mahavidyalaya today. Under the initiative of Karabi Saikia, Principal of Konwar Gajen Baruah Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, a recording programme was held in the music college campus located at Gereki Chuk here wherein songs, poems, and literary creations of children were recorded. A total of 20 children participated in the programme, which will be broadcasted under the Umola Ghar or Juva Bani programmes of the AIR. Goutam Nath, Programme Executive of AIR, Tezpur, addressed the gathering while Karabi Saikia welcomed the team and explained the objectives. The event was attended by Priyanka Das, Barnali Lahkar, and Pradeep Sheel among others.
