Dinesh Ojha Path in Tarun Nagar locality in Guwahati city of Assam has been marked as a containment zone on Saturday following the detection of Covid-19 cases in the area, the Kamrup (M) administration has confirmed.

The Ashirabad Apartment in the North, the Assam Flour Mill campus in GS road in the South, H P Apartment to the East and the residence of Chittaranjan Sarmah and Aphrodite beauty parlour to the West have been marked as the extremities of the latest containment zone in the Kamrup (M) district that has reported the highest number of cases.

Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu says that any violation of this order will attract action under the provisions of "The Disaster Management Act-2005", The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, and other relevant sections of the law.

Notably, this is the biggest one-time jump reported in the state. Notably, most of the recent cases have been detected in citizens who have been quarantined following return from other Indian states.
