Guwahati: At least cadres of a militant group surrendered at Bokajan police station in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Sunday.

These cadres belong to a militant group named All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA).

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Assam Special DGP, GP Singh informed the same and tweeted, "Moved by call of peace by @CMOfficeAssam Hon @himantabiswa ji, 13 cadres of militant group AANLA left path of violence today in presence of @assampolice @official_dgar @crpfindia officials at Bokajan PS @karbianglongpol."

Notably, in January too, as many as 246 militants who belonged to United Gorkha Peoples' Organization (UGPO) and Tiwa Liberation Army (TLA) had surrendered before Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Around 277 arms, grenades and 720 rounds of ammunition were deposited by both outfits before the authority.

Further, the state government had also distributed financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh to the former members of RNLF, UPRF, NLFB, NSLA and ADF for their rehabilitation.
