FARIDABAD: The 38th edition of the Surajkund International Crafts Mela, which began on February 7 and will continue until February 23, 2025, has once again brought together artisans, craftsmen, and cultural performers from across India and beyond. Among the many talented participants, Assam’s artisans have made a significant mark, showcasing their exquisite handcrafted products and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Northeast India.

Dhiraj Rajbongshi from Assam attracted visitors with his handmade bamboo and cane products. His stall, decorated with traditional Assamese designs, was loved by both art lovers and buyers. The detailed crafts showed the beauty of Assamese art and their eco-friendly nature.

Another entrepreneur from Assam, Rajiv Saikia, used the platform to promote sustainable art and craft. Expressing gratitude to the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) for their support, Saikia showcased a diverse range of handcrafted items further strengthening the appeal of Northeast India's unique artistic identity.

The Surajkund International Crafts Mela, organized by the Surajkund Mela Authority and Haryana Tourism in collaboration with the Union Ministries of Tourism, Textiles, Culture, and External Affairs, is the world's largest crafts fair. Attracting over a million visitors, including thousands of international tourists, the event serves as a grand platform for artisans to exhibit their work and connect with a global audience.

Apart from the craft stalls, the Mela offers lively folk performances, cultural displays, and craft demonstrations to keep traditional skills alive. Visitors can also enjoy different ethnic foods at the multi-cuisine Food Court and take part in fun activities, adventure sports, and joy rides.
