Assam ASI shoots himself inside Silchar Sadar thana

SILCHAR: An on-duty Assistant Sub Inspector of police shot himself with his service revolver inside Silchar Sadar thana. The ASI has been identified as Gour Bidhu Singh. The bizarre incident happened on Monday afternoon. Sources said, Singh was sitting in his chair. Suddenly he removed the service revolver and shot himself. His colleagues heard the sound of firing, rushed to his room, but it was too late. District Police Super Dr. Ramandeep Kaur reached Silchar PS hurriedly. Singh's body was sent Silchar medical college hospital for post mortem. Hearing the news, the daughters of Singh rushed to the police station. What led a policeman to commit suicide inside the police station was yet to be ascertained.
