Assam Assembly Election: 76.3 % turnout in Sarupathar Constituency

SARUPATHAR: The first phase of the Assembly election in 94-Sarupathar LAC concluded here on March 27. The first phase polls was held in 47 Assembly Constituencies of Assam. Nearly 76.3 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 6 pm in in 94-Sarupathar. Polling was largely peaceful in all the polling booths of the 94-Sarupathar LAC. Long queues were also seen outside the polling booths with voters and election officials adhering to COVID-19 protocol.

According to report, 94-Sarupathar LAC has 2,66,869 total voters and this includes 1,34,931 male voters and 1,31,938 female voters. Polling was held in 345 total polling stations and the candidates are Biswajit Phukan (BJP alliance), Roselina Tirkey (Congress-led 'Grand Alliance'), Raju Phukan (AJP) and Gopal Gogoi (Independent).
