KOKRAJHAR: The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) on Thursday formally released its election manifesto ahead of the Assam Assembly election at the party’s central office in Kokrajhar. The manifesto was unveiled by party President Pramod Boro in the presence of Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Members of Parliament Rwngwra Narzary and Joyanta Basumatary, along with other party leaders and workers.

Senior leaders highlighted the party’s commitment to peace, development, and inclusive growth in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), expressing confidence in gaining public support in the upcoming elections

In the key highlights, the UPPL President and Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Boro outlined an extensive vision agenda focusing on peace, governance, social justice, and inclusive development across the BTR. He emphasized sustaining peace and harmony through dialogue and inclusive governance, including the formation of subdivision-level peace committees. He also pledged to expedite 100% implementation of the BTR Peace Accord, 2020, and push for the 125th Constitutional Amendment, strengthen institutional frameworks, increase MCLA constituencies, and ensure direct central funding.

The manifesto highlighted initiatives to preserve cultural identity, including the development of the Bodoland Community Museum and ethnographic projects representing 26 communities. The party also promised land rights for eligible families, support for religious institutions, construction of Bhawans and memorials and advocacy for inclusion of regional languages like Rabha, Koch-Rajbongshi, and Santali as mediums of instruction. The party proposed expansion of education through scholarships, establishment of higher educational institutions, and digital learning hubs. It also aims to strengthen healthcare services by improving hospital infrastructure, ensuring adequate staffing and providing welfare schemes for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

Focusing on youth empowerment, UPPL plans to launch sports leagues, provide skill training linked to employment and introduce fellowship programmes. The manifesto also emphasizes promoting entrepreneurship, supporting women-led self-help groups, and enhancing self-employment opportunities.

The party has proposed major infrastructure development projects, including roads, bridges, irrigation systems, and industrial parks. It also aims to promote eco-tourism while ensuring conservation of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, along with measures to mitigate human-elephant conflict. In the agriculture sector, the UPPL pledged to double farmers’ income, improve irrigation facilities and provide access to modern agricultural technologies. The party also aims to strengthen farmer support systems through better market access, crop insurance, and financial assistance schemes. The vision document underscores UPPL’s focus on inclusive growth, community participation, and long-term development in the BTR region, with an emphasis on ensuring that no section of society is left behind.
