GUWAHATI: On Thursday morning, a stopped passenger ASTC bus unexpectedly caught fire at a depot in the Tinsukia, Assam. The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) bus depot in Tinsukia is where the event was reported.

'AS12 BC 9447' bus was fully destroyed in the fire, according to sources; the origin of the fire is yet unknown. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The event occurs amid several ASTC’s former workers who were fired from their positions protest against it.

According to report, the bus was scheduled to depart for Tezpur but unexpectedly caught fire.

An official notice alleges that when Anand Prakash Tiwari and Khagendra Nath Chetia served as Managing Directors, a total of 2,274 personnel were hired without following the proper procedures.

An argument broke out at the company's office in Guwahati's Paltanbazar district on Wednesday after the decision was made.

A number of the affected workers met at the ASTC office in Paltanbazar and confronted the State Transport Employees Union general secretary with questions regarding their unannounced termination from their positions.

Beginning on June 1, Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) buses will cease operating on the highways in what appears to be a statewide protest.

Every bus station in Assam has received a strike announcement from ASTC staff, according to information obtained.

In view of the decision to discharge 771 employees from their duties for allegedly obtaining employment through unfair means, ASTC made this judgment.

After the decision to terminate multiple employees was taken on May 31, a fight broke out at the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) office in the Paltanbazar sector of Guwahati. The State Transport Employees Union general secretary was reportedly confronted by a number of the affected employees over their abrupt discharge from their jobs at the ASTC headquarters in Paltanbazar. The scene deteriorated as the outraged employees demanded that the decision to terminate them be immediately reversed. Paltan bazar police have arrived on the spot to handle the situation in the meanwhile.
