JORHAT: A quick response by the police team from Titabar Police Station, led by the Officer-in-Charge, foiled an attempted ATM theft. Two men were arrested, and the police seized a rod and an axe that were intended to be used in the crime.

Legal action has been taken against the accused, and the police continue to investigate the matter further.

Meanwhile, a gang of thieves were nabbed by the Paltan Bazar Police in Guwahati. Four men—Mokibul Khan, Rushikesh Kishan Shinde, Mokibul Hussain, and Harshjit Mandal—were arrested. The gang, from Barpeta, is suspected of being behind several thefts, including a recent one in Paltan Bazar.

The police recovered stolen gold jewelry, silver ornaments, and several mobile phones from the suspects. They also found Rs. 75,000 in cash, believed to be from their illegal activities. The arrests are linked to case number 13/25, which covers multiple thefts in the area.

The police are continuing their investigation to find more details about the gang and any other people involved. Authorities are committed to ensuring the safety and security of the community.

Earlier this month, a team from the West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) at Fatasil Ambari Police Station arrested two individuals after they were caught red-handed attempting to steal iron rods from the construction site of the Birubari Flyover.

The suspects were identified as Biki Das (22) and Shyam Sundar Barman (27). Police seized an autorickshaw and about 40 kilograms of stolen iron rods from their possession.
