Assam: Autorickshaw Driver Rapes 70 Year Old Widow For Multiple Times

GUWAHATI : An episode came to light on 29th of January, Sunday, where a man has been arrested for raping an elderly woman for multiple times. The incident occurred in Assam's Cachar district.

The accused has been identified as Sambhu Nath, who is 23 years old. As per the reports, Nath raped a 70 year old woman at Bhubandahar tea estate in Cachar.m district.

The victim is a widow and had lodged a complaint at Palonghat police department on 26th January, stating that Nath raped her for multiple times on 25th January, states a senior police officer.

The happening took place when the lady was approaching towards her home after attending a wedding ceremony, from Dharmikhal locality. When interrogated by the cops, the accused admitted his crime stating that, around 8am when he found that the 70 year old widow was coming alone from the route, he forced her to a road side gorge and molested her.

Later he forced her into his auto rickshaw and raped her in some other place for several times. The victim filed an FIR on the very next day, following which an investigation was initiated. Subham Nath was arrested during the process.

However, the identification of the victim has not been revealed on legal terms. Recently, a gruesome episode took place in Guwahati city where a girl got treated in the most inhumane manner.

The incident occurred on Thursday night, Kamrup district. A young girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang raped by few unidentified men. As per the sources, the victim was initially abducted from Goreswar in Kamrup district by the miscreants.

Later, the culprits threw her out at Indira nagar in Basistha area of Guwahati. The girl was then spotted by the local people around who later informed the concerned authorities.

Local police rushed to the spot and rescued the girl. Sources informed that, the girl was drugged by the culprits before molesting her. However, no individual has been arrested until now.
