BISWANATH: An awareness campaign regarding the Electronic Voting Machines which are to be used in the upcoming general elections is underway across the country. As a part of this campaign, the officials from the department concerned organised a rally in Biswanath where an electronic voting machine was displayed to people across the town.

The elections department of the district administration of Biswanath undertook an awareness campaign across the district. As a part of the ongoing campaign, the officials took out an electronic voting machine which they took around the town. The officials displayed the voting equipment as it was taken across the district. They also answered the questions posed by the citizens regarding the machines and the voting process as a whole.

It can be said that a large number of questions have been raised regarding the integrity of these electronic voting mentioning that they can be manipulated to get the desirable results. The officials from the election department also cleared the doubts of the public in this regard. They mentioned that this entire campaign has been initiated to get rid of the misconceptions of the public. The officials also called on the public to utilize their right to vote and not to waste the chance to select their desired representatives.

Previously, in a proactive move to enhance electoral literacy, an impactful event focusing on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) recently unfolded in the South Salmara Mankachar district, under the diligent guidance of the district election officer, Kisan Sori. This strategic initiative aimed to enlighten citizens about the intricacies of EVMs, fostering a deeper understanding of the voting process and emphasizing the importance of active participation in the democratic system.

District Election Officer Kisan Sori, a key driving force behind this endeavour, expressed the significance of the event in bolstering civic engagement. He highlighted that similar awareness campaigns are slated to unfold across the entire state in the coming one and a half months, indicating a concerted effort to ensure that citizens are well-informed about the use and functionality of EVMs.
