NAGAON: The Nagaon Zila Xahitya Xabha accorded a warm welcome to Dr Basanta Kumar Goswami, the president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, at a function held at the Zila Sahitya Sabha Bhavan today here.
Dr. Goswami, who took over as the president of the Axam Xahitya Xabha recently, was on his first visit to Nagaon after assuming office. He was felicitated with Gamusa, Cheleng, and japis, traditional Assamese items, by the Zila Xahitya Xabha and its affiliated branches.
While addressing the occasion, Dr Goswami thanked the Nagaon Zila Xahitya Xabha for the warm welcome and assured that he would work tirelessly to promote the interests of the Xahitya Xabha and take it to new heights. He also emphasized the need to reform the organization and make it more vibrant and dynamic.
Dr. Goswami said that his priority would be to make the Axam Xahitya Xabha a more inclusive and democratic organization, where every member would have a say in its decision-making process. He also promised to take steps to revive the organization’s branches in different parts of the state and make them more active.
The Axam Xahitya Xabha president also announced that his organization would soon launch a new initiative to promote literary activities among the younger generation. He said that the organization would provide financial assistance and other support to young writers and poets to encourage them to pursue their literary pursuits.
Earlier, the Nagaon Zila Xahitya Xabha general secretary, Rajeev Hazarika, welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests. The function was also attended by several other dignitaries, including former ministers, MLAs, and literary personalities.
