AGARTALA: In a significant operation, Rajdeep Deb, a prime accused in the online trading scam from Tripura has been apprehended by Badarpur Police. Churaibari Police assisted in the arrest of Deb, a resident of BSF Camp Road in Sribhumi, from a residence in Tripura's Dharmanagar.
Police sources claim that Deb had been evading arrest since the capture of another key accused, Shakir, from Kolkata’s Bakhrashal area. Following a tip-off received by Sribhumi Police, Deb was finally tracked down despite weeks of evading law enforcement.
Deb had allegedly used funds obtained from defrauding individuals through online trading schemes to live a lavish lifestyle. He had reportedly promised high returns to investors but vanished after collecting significant sums.
“Since Shakir’s arrest, Deb had been on the run, frequently changing locations to avoid being caught. However, our successful joint operation with Churaibari Police led to his arrest in Dharmanagar,” said an official from Badarpur Police Station.
For further investigation, Deb has been brought to Badarpur Police Station. Authorities believe that his arrest could provide crucial leads into the broader network behind the scam.
Victims of the fraudulent scheme are hopeful that legal action will be taken against those responsible for duping investors. Law enforcement agencies are working to recover the scammed funds and bring all involved perpetrators to justice as a part of the investigation.
