Assam Bandh Passes off Peacefully in Dhekiajuli

Dhekiajuli: The 12 hour Assam Bandh called by the Assam unit of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal on Friday over the exclusion of a “large number of Hindus” and inclusion of illegal immigrants in the final list of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was passed off peacefully in Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle area. During the bandh period educational institutions, banks and commercial establishments remained closed in Dhekiajuli town, Rakhyasmari, Sirajuli, Borsola, Singri and other parts of Dhekiajuli Sub Division. The motor vehicles, both private and commercial, and goods carrier trucks were off the roads of NH-15 during the bandh. No untoward incidents were reported from any part of Dhekiajuli Revenue circle area during the 12 hour bandh. Local administration was on strict vigil to prevent any untoward incident during the Assam Bandh period.
