BOKAKHAT: Another case of oil theft has been reported from a parked tanker at the Numaligarh Refinery under the jurisdiction of Numaligarh Police Station and the NRL authority. The incident was confirmed by Numaligarh police.
According to the report, tanker number AS-07-BC-5133 was involved in the theft. The driver of the tanker, identified as Mithilesh Ray, was caught red-handed while stealing oil. Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the police arrested the driver and brought him to the police station.
After interrogation, the driver was produced before the Golaghat District and Sessions Court, which sent him to judicial custody. It has been revealed that the driver is a resident of Bihar.
Sources state that if the media had not arrived in time to report the incident, the driver might have escaped arrest. On the other hand, the frequency of such incidents has reportedly increased, and the local police have alleged a rise in criminal activities in the area.
