Assam: Bir Raghav Moran Divas observed at Margherita India Club

DOOMDOOMA: The 288th Bir Raghav Moran Divas was observed by Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) at Margherita India Club with a day-long programme on Sunday. The programme got underway in the morning with the hoisting of the flag by president Palash Changmai followed by tribute paying ceremony to martyrs and colleagues by secretary Ratul Borgohain and chief adviser Rana Pratap Baruah, respectively.

Journalist Dhiren Deka addressed the gathering after paying floral tributes. Former president of Assam Moran Sabha Someswar Moran, Secretary of Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association (TDJA) Rana Jyoti Neog former Secretary, TDJA Manoj Dutta and other nationalist organisations offered tributes to Bir Raghav Moran.

Margerita MLA Bhaskar Sarma inaugurated the cultural meet in the venue. The open session and award giving function began thereafter with AJYCP president Palash Changmai in the chair. Chief adviser Rana Pratap Baruah inaugurated the programme while Tarun Baruah Moran, chief adviser of Moran Xahitya Xabha, spoke briefly about Bir Raghav Moran’s historic role in leading mass revolution known as “Moamoriya Bidroh” against mighty Ahom rulers’ misrule in introducing ‘Paik system ‘ similar to ‘slave system’ of America.
