Assam: Biswajit Daimary, Rajya Sabha MP resigns from BPF, likely to join BJP

Assam: Biswajit Daimary, Rajya Sabha MP resigned from his post as the working president of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) on Wednesday.

This happened ahead of the BTC elections which is likely to be held in the first part of December this year.

Daimary is likely to join the BJP.

He wrote his resignation to BPF chief, Hagrama Mohilary on Wednesday.

"Having been a member of the BPF from the date of party's inception, it is now time for me to move on. While my purposes remain the same as it has always been from the very beginning to serve the people of my state and country, I believe I am unable to do this anymore within the party" said Daimary in his resignation letter.

He also announced while addressing the media that he will resign from the Rajya Sabha after accomplishing the responsibilities he undertook as an MP.
