GUWAHATI: In a sensational incident in the Bongaigaon district of Assam a student who was supposed to appear in HSLC was found dead under mysterious circumstances.

As per reports, on Tuesday 15 March, police recovered the body of the HSLC (High School Leaving Certification) exam candidate from the Amtola area in Abhayapuri that falls in Assam's Bongaigaon district.

The deceased boy has been identified as Paban Roy who was pursuing studies from the DPM School in the North Salmara subdivision of Bongaigaon.

Notably, the deceased was supposed to appear in the HSLC examination that has started across the state from today i.e. Tuesday 15 March as informed by officials.

According to the initial investigation and the evidence found it is suspected that the boy died by committing suicide.

According to reports, the family members of Paban came to know about the incident first and then they reported the matter to the local police station.

After getting informed the police officials from the local police station arrived at the scene and took the body of the deceased for post mortem and other instigation.

Meanwhile, police launched a detailed investigation over the matter to find the exact cause of death of the HSLC candidate.

It may be mentioned that similar incidents of suicide are reported every year during the board exams where students kill themselves for different reasons mainly due to stress and other mental pressure.

Notably, the HSLC and AHM (Assam High Madrassa) exam started today and it will end on 31st March. The Higher secondary examination also started on Tuesday and will be concluded on 12 April 2022.

The examination of HSLC this year will be conducted based on the previous year's question paper and answer sheets as informed by the exam conducting body of SEBA.

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council informed that a total of 2,15,022 students will be sitting in HS exams across 796 exam centres in Assam.
