
DIBRUGARH: The shooting for the Bollywood film Senapati, directed by OMG-2 filmmaker Amit Rai, commenced in Dibrugarh on Thursday. The film, produced under the JAR Production banner, will be shot in the city for the next 25 days. The film crew, along with the cast, arrived in the city to begin filming at various picturesque locations.
Nearly 98% of the film’s cast and crew have been selected from Dibrugarh, showcasing local talent. Guwahati-based actress Sulakshana Baruah has also been roped in for a role.
The film’s storyline revolves around a child and a dog, with a significant portion of the dialogues in Assamese. Local residents are excited to witness the production, as the film is expected to showcase the beauty and culture of the region.
The shooting began with a traditional ceremony at the old colony of E&D in Amolapatty, followed by the first scene filmed at Mohanaghat. However, the technical crew, currently staying in a rented house in Dibrugarh, hails from West Bengal.
The project has received support from the Assam State Film Finance & Development Corporation and the Assam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Speaking at the muhurta ceremony, Simanta Sekhar, Chairman of the Assam State Film Finance & Development Corporation, expressed confidence that the film would boost Assam’s tourism industry and enhance the region’s cinematic appeal.
