Assam Branch Indian Tea Association (ABITA) organizes medical camp in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: A free medical health check-up and medicine distribution camp was organized by Assam Branch Indian Tea Association(ABITA), Dibrugarh Circle under the aegis of Dibrugarh Police for inhabitants of Thangaon & Itakhoolie villages in Lezai Kolakhowa area which has been severely affected by the recent floods. A substantial portion of medicines was supplied by the Office of the Joint Director of Health Services.

The camp was organized on Friday at Itakhoolie Dehingthan English High School with Medical Officers from ABITA gardens namely, Greenwood, Singlijan, Nudwa, Nahortoli and Romai Tea Estates participating along with their paramedical teams. Dr Munin Pathok and Dr Bandana Tirkey from Dibrugarh Police actively participated in the camp along with their team. Nearly 350 patients benefitted from the camp which also included children and the elderly. Medicines for a variety of ailments like fever, gastroenteritis, skin disease, eye infection, worm, hypertension etc were distributed. The camp also distributed 100 bottles of phenyl and 1000 water purification tablets to the needy families. The local ASHA worker and ANM from Itakhoolie sub-centre were also present. Madhurjya Barooah, Secretary Zone 1, AITA & Sailen Goswami, Chairman, Dibrugarh Circle, ABITA thanked the district administration and the Superintendent of Police, Dibrugarh for lending their support to the camp. Barooah later disclosed that one more such medical camp will be held very soon in the district.
