KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland Territorial Council Chief Pramod Boro on Saturday visited Banglajhora village situated near Swrmanga river in Patgaon to take the stock of sitation ahead the arrival of monsoon season. The villagers of Banglajhira have been facing flood havoc of river Swrmanga every year as the village remains cut off during rainy days.
The villagers of 179 families have been brought to Swrmanga river bank from different forest village during Bodo-Adivasi conflict of 1996. The village is in between Khasiguri river in the east and Swrmanga river in the West and their village got submerged for several times during rainy days every year and communications remained snapped. The students are the worst sufferers as they cannot cross the Kasiguri river due to lack of bridge to go to Patgaon while an LP School in Banglajhora had been eroded by the river Swrmanga while most of the parts of the village get submerged by flood waters. Students have to cross the Kasiguri river with ordinary dresses and replace with school uniforms after crossing the river which is really pathetic for the girl students.
