KOKRAJHAR: The Information and Public Relations department of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is going to organize ‘Confluence-2025: The media conclave of sixth schedule councils’ on January 30 at the auditorium of the hall of Kokrajhar Planetarium.

According to sources, the programme will commence at 9:00 AM on January 30. CHD of I&PR Department of BTR Zahid Ahmed Tapadar has requested all media persons of the five districts of BTC to participate in the historic media conclave, which aims to bring media professionals from the five districts of BTR, as well as senior journalists from Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong districts together. He said this will be the first time that a media conclave of six scheduled councils of Assam will be organized for sharing their experiences and key issues of their respective councils.

The schedule of the programme reveals that the event would be inaugurated by Minister for Information and Public Relations, Printing & Stationery, Government of Assam Pijush Hazarika while the Chief Executive Member of BTC Pramod Boro will grace the occasion as chief guest. Executive Member of BTC for I&PRD Dr Nilut Swargiary, Deputy Chairman of NCHAC Nulminal Lianthang Amin, Executive Member for I&PRD of KAAC Surjya Rongfer, Principal Secretary of BTC Akash Deepa, and Secretary to the Government of Assam, I&PRP and S Department Arundhati Chakrabarty will also be present as distinguished guests while eminent media personalities, including Editor-in-Chief of Prag News Prasanta Rajguru, Editor of Dainik Purvoday Ravi Sankar Ravi, and HoD of the Communication & Journalism Department, Gauhati University Dr Chandan Kumar Goswami, will also attend the conclave and interact with the media persons. Additionally, the Director General of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, has been invited to grace the occasion.

The first technical session on the topic- ‘Balancing freedom and responsibility: Media ethics in the age of development journalism,’ focusing on examining the ethical challenges and responsibilities of journalists in promoting development while ensuring accountability and balanced reporting would be delivered by Prasanta Rajguru, Editor-in-Chief - Prag News. The second technical session on the topic-‘Strengthening media-government relations: Guidelines for transparent and effective communication’ focusing on highlighting the importance of a collaborative relationship between the media and the government, emphasizing mutual trust, transparency, and actionable communication strategies for the benefit of the public would be addressed by Ravi Sankar Ravi, Editor- Dainik Purvoday, while the 3rd session on the topic-‘Understanding media acts and guidelines: Adherence for responsible reporting,’ focusing on a comprehensive overview of media-related laws and guidelines, their importance in maintaining journalistic integrity, and best practices for compliance would be addressed by Chandan Kumar Goswami, HoD, of Communication & Journalism, Gauhati University.
